Yves Saint Laurent
Behind the scenes of haute couture in Lyon
Yves Saint Laurent is one of the foremost fashion designers in the twentieth century. Protégé of Christian Dior in the 50s, he became the most influential designer of the 60s and 70s. Among many other achievements, he introduced the tuxedo suit for women and was the first one to use non-white models.
This unique exhibition aims for highlighting the very special bond between Yves and his Lyonnais suppliers (mainly silk) and allows to understand the necessary steps to create a piece of haute couture. Many creations displayed have never been shown before outside the catwalk. The Textile Museum (where the exhibition takes place) will pay tribute to a huge creative man, but also to the savoir-faire of the Lyonnais silk weavers! Included in the Lyon City Card.
